Biosafety

As a professor, you are responsible for ensuring that the health of your staff and students is protected and that accidents are prevented within ETH Zurich. You are obliged to designate safety officers and to inform your staff/students of the essential points on safety and intervention should an event occur.

Will you be leaving ETH Zurich soon and have you performed biosafety-relevant activities in your group? Then you need to comply with the following points:

  • End all active activity notifications in the ECOGEN database (or, if you intend to continue the activity within Switzerland: transfer the notifications to the future organisational unit), also report this via e-mail to
  • Inactivation and correct disposal of all biological material, cleaning and disinfection of all work stations, safety cabinets, equipment etc..
  • If you wish to take samples to your new place of work, you must contact the dangerous goods safety advisor for ETH Zurich in advanc (), in order to receive information on the transport options and transport provisions.
